W. Scott Gilmore, MD, EMT-P, FACEP, FAEMS is currently the Medical Director for St. Louis Fire Department and an emergency medicine physician at a busy urban emergency department. He is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at Saint Louis University. He is co-editor of the Washington Manual of Emergency Medicine and has served as a reviewer for numerous textbooks and journal articles. He has been involved in emergency medical services for over 24 years. He started his career in healthcare as an Emergency Medical Technician-Ambulance in a suburban fire-based system. He continued his training and became an EMT-Intermediate, EMT-Paramedic and EMS Instructor. Prior to becoming the Medical Director of St. Louis Fire Department in 2013, he was the volunteer Assistant Medical Director for 5 years.
